IDPartnership were commissioned in 2008 to develop proposals for a ‘new town’, forming a uniquely innovative, sustainable community in the heart of the Scottish Lowlands, equidistant to Glasgow and Edinburgh. The proposals comprise 5500 new homes, 2 golf courses, a hotel, a business park, and a neighbourhood commercial centre.
It is the largest brownfield regeneration site within the British Isles, and involves the re-development of two former collieries, together with the reclamation and remediation of the derelict site. Throughout this process, the principles of sustainability and concerned environmental stewardship have been carefully applied.
