Project Description:

Following our involvement in the masterplanning and design of the Central Park area, IDPartnership have been appointed by Darlington Borough Council to prepare concept proposals for several key development opportunity sites in Darlington Town Centre. The brief was to provide a strategic overview of the town centre to consider how the town can continue to be a thriving and successful market town. This involves addressing current market trends which are leading to structural changes within many town centres due to the shift to online shopping and move from retail to leisure activities. Our work aims to show how, when designed carefully, development opportunity sites can be used to draw in other uses such as city centre living and leisure activities to complement and reinforce the role of the town centre.
