The Inn Collection Hotel, Seaburn
Location: Seaburn, Sunderland
Client: The Inn Collection Group
Status: On site - complete Easter 2021
Project Description:
Occupying a fantastic location on the Seaburn seafront IDPartnership have developed designs for a 42 bed hotel above a large family restaurant. The scheme has been designed around three key principles:
1. Creating a building that suits its coastal location and is instantly recognisable as sea front architecture
2. Providing clear legibility of the restaurant area that ‘pops out’ from the softer white hotel above with material contrasts and an active frontage
3. Provide height through the introduction of a framed arch to highlight the building as a destination.
Throughout the design process IDP carefully considered the ongoing maintenance of the building in such an exposed location, as the client had experienced issues on other schemes. This life cycle approach to design has allowed us to develop a design that will not only look great in year 1 but also year 10, as well as building client confidence.
The new premises will add to The Inn Collection Group’s growing portfolio of ‘pubs with rooms’, providing good quality food and rooms across the north of England.
The construction programme has contended with the Covid-19 pandemic, and through collaborative and pragmatic working between all consultants and contractors, the scheme will open in Easter 2021.
